Workshop for WHO Headquarters Interns

Thursday 27th June, WHO Hearquarters Geneva, Switzerland

Nutrition continues to be a central health, economic and sustainable development challenge for every region on the planet. If executed thoughtfully, catalysing the efforts, resources and voice of the vast nutrition community, the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition (2016-2025) has the potential to propagate a society-wide movement, leading to national policy change and ultimately to the end of all forms of malnutrition. The Need for Nutrition Education/Innovation Programme (NNEdPro) Global Centre for Nutrition and Health, in collaboration with the WHO Department of Nutrition and Development, is hosting the workshop Bringing Nutrition into Health Systems: From Global Training Architecture to Local Implementation Models.

We face a complex healthcare challenge from under-nutrition, over-nutrition and micronutrient deficiencies alongside inadequate hydration. Congress of the International Nutrigenetics & Nutrigenomics

The NNEdPro Global Centre in Cambridge also hosted the 13th Annual Congress of the International Society for Nutrigenetics and Nutrigenomics (ISNN) on 12th – 13th July 2019. It is the purpose of the ISNN Congress to increase the understanding of the role of genetic variation and individual dietary response, and the role of nutrients in gene expression. Main themes of the lectures will be nutrigenetics of food intake and genetic variants that control the interaction of the gut microbiome with bioactive food compounds. There will be an abstract competition for best contributions focused on these main themes. An intensive half-day training course for health care providers interested in using genetic information in their practice will be held on the 13th July. The Congress will be convened in conjunction with the University of Parma and its School of Advanced Studies in Food Sciences and Nutrition, a NNEdPro key strategic partner.
